Tax Increment Financing
Our firm has significant experience in the formation of redevelopment districts utilizing Tax Increment Financing (TIF Districts). We were instrumental in the formation and development of two of Arkansas’s first TIF Districts, in Jonesboro and North Little Rock. Our firm was significantly involved in drafting Act 43, which was adopted to clarify the computation of the value of assessed property within TIF Districts. The firm played a lead role in revising Arkansas TIF law in Act 2231. Several of our attorneys are frequent lecturers to municipalities and civic groups regarding TIF Districts.
The firm is currently playing a key role in the development of Senate Joint Resolution 15 (SJR 15), a proposed constitutional amendment which, if adopted, will modernize Arkansas’s constitutional provisions governing economic development, paving the way for a more flexible, competitive, and revived TIF regime.
